COME EXPERIENCE A FABULOUS HOLIDAY ON YOUR BIKE WITH A COUPLE OF STAGE VIEWINGS OF THE 2025 TOUR DE FRANCE INCLUDED!
Unpack and live like a local - that's the Tour de France experience we provide. We do not follow the Tour so there's no daily grind of changing hotels or transferring stage to stage. Our cycling tour in the Pyrenees is all about the riding so we take you on a holiday with your bike and get you to a couple of stages of the race when it's in the Pyrenees.
The rest of the time you will unpack for around a week in Bagneres-de-Luchon, the Queen of the Pyreness, where every day is geared up for you to do nothing else but ride your bike up a mountain or few. Get ready to relax, immerse yourself in the local French culture, kick back in the town's bars and cafes and have the time of your life.
As a group we eat, sleep and ride together each day which creates a personal, 'family road trip' atmosphere that has you sharing your achievements and your failures and supporting and inspiring each other every step of the way. Lifelong friendships are formed and amazing memories shared with other likeminded people gathered together, living the same dream. With the perfect balance of riding and relaxing each afteroon and having almost everything included except your beer and lunch money, all you need to bring is your riding legs, your carbon steed (though bike hire is offered for an additional cost) and a great sense of fun. We'll take care of the rest! Also check our Tour de France Alpes Ventoux tour >>

client review
Having just finished a wonderfully challenging tour of the Pyrenees I wish it would never have ended. The Velotours staff go above and beyond to ensure each and every one of us left with our bucket lists ticked and a huge smile on our faces. We were all treated like family, not just customers, and relished the opportunity to "live like a local" in Luchon. Au Revoir......until next time

on tour with
henk vogels
When we say "on tour with Henk Vogels" this is literally what happens. Henk stays in the chalets and hotels with us, eats breakfast and dinner with us each day, rides in the group and acts as a guide both on and off the bike. On the days where we watch the Tour de France on the television in the privacy of our chalets or at the local bar, you are treated to Henk's knowledgable and insighful commentary and larrikinism. Henk also offers on the spot training for anyone wanting to improve on their descending skills.
FULLY SUPPORTED
All our tours are fully supported with Velo Tours' riders on the road and vans stocked with food & water so you can call it a day at any time.
2023 itinerary now available
Have you ever wondered what happens each day on a tour? Here are is an example of what to expect on our Pyrenees experience....
The main street of Bagneres-de-Luchon, known as the Queen of the Pyrenees
Our fully self contained villas and hotel are just a stones throw away from each other
One of the beautiful salons at our hotel for catching a quiet moment to enjoy a drink or just drink in the ambience...
The Tour de France is always lots of fun, especially the mountainside stages!
Dinner each night is where all the chatter about the day's activites takes place and where everyone gets to know each other. Regardless of whether you come alone or with a friend or two, everyone goes home having made new lifelong friendships and promises of a home town visit or a catch up ride some time soon.
ARRIVAL
Your tour begins with arrival into Toulouse-Blangac Airport before lunch for the transfer to our home base for the next week in Bagneres-de-Luchon, a small town nestled in a beautiful valley at the foot of many famous Categorie 1 climbs. We get settled in, our bikes put together in time for welcome drinks and a brief of what's to come across the tour.
HOME BASE
Depending on the year and how the Tour de France route rolls out, home base will be double or twin rooms in either an elegant, traditionally decorated 3 star hotel or 17th century villas in the middle of town, decorated in typically French decor complete with original timber staircases. The villa has numerous bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry, large living areas for relaxing after the rides and private gardens behind keycoded gates for our exclusive use. Our hotel is equipped with a heated pool, outdoor shaded terrace, on-site bar and restaurant.
daily rides
The rides depart each morning after breakfast with fully stocked support vans transporting your day bags packed with what ever you need on the rides but don't want to carry in your jersey. The vans are always at the top of the climbs and up and down the road throughout the day. The rides are usually always back by lunchtime so we can relax at the houses or the bars in town while watching the tour on the big television.
tour de france stage days
We see 2 - 3 stages of the tour - a start, a mountain stage and a finish. This is not always possible but we try to make it happen when we can. When riding to a stage start, staff look after your bikes at a local cafe while you take in the sights and atmosphere of the Tour de France sign on activities. On the mountain stages, Velo Tours set up in a prime position on the side of the road where you can relax inside the tent with snacks and refreshments while you wait for the caravan and Tour festivities to arrive.
NIGHTLY DINNERS AND LUNCHES
All dinners are included in your package to take the stress out of wondering where to go. We've done all the leg work for you, having dined at the same restaurants for many years, knowing which ones to avoid. Dinner is 3 courses offering a great range of fresh local products. We also have a pizza and salad night at home in the garden the night prior to our queen stage to ensure you get to bed nice and early and are well rested. Lunches are either on the rides or can be prepared at the house from supplies you've bought from the local supermarket or in the cafes on our return from the rides. Lunch and alcohol are not included in our packages.
THE VILLAS
Our 17th century villas offer an authentic French decor with all the conveniences of home. One premises contains 2 x 3 bedroom and 2 x 2 bedroom fully self contained units across 3 levels within the house, each with their own private facilities. There's also a main lounge, kitchen, dining room, laundry, billiards room, outdoor setting and securty gates. Our hotel is an elegantly decorated traditional style hotel at the end of the main street.
bike hire
If you're travelling elsewhere before or after the tour and don't want the hassle of dragging your bike bag around Europe with you why not ask us about hiring one of our Wilier bikes, specifically geared for climbing those mountains.
