Tour Overview
Who needs to travel to Europe for the big climbs when we have a cycling mountain mecca right in our very own back yard. The pretty town of Bright is nestled in a green valley surrounded by alpine mountains, then add in a river banked with beautiful parklands, a growing array of cafes and restaurants and a limitless choice of rides from town to Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and more, Bright is the ultimate 'climbing' destination within Australia.
We currently offer a relaxed 4 night / 5 day long weekend getaway that incorporates the "home base" setup in a large house central to town where you get to unpack and ride and eat your way around the many local routes Bright has to offer. My husband and I loved the relaxed vibe of this tour and the rides on offer ticked all the big ticket climbs in the area.... Despite having 2 free choice options for dinner we all ended up dining together every night anyway because the environment Velo Tours creates makes bonding so easy. Having the support van meant I could ride to Falls Creek which I could never had done otherwise.... the pool back at the house was wonderful for a dip after the rides. Great getaway - thanks guys!

ACCOMMODATION
Similar to our Tour de France tours, our Bright getaway is homebase style creating that family road trip experience. The White House is a tastefully renovated large family home, centrally located and ideal for a large cycling group on holiday. The main house sleeps up to 16 people in four bedrooms, though we will sleep just 9 to ensure guest comfort and no overcrowding for the bathrooms. The unit in the backyard sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms. There are a total of 4 en-suites and 1 main bathroom, a large kitchen for our pasta night at home, 2 x laundries for keeping kit clean and a BBQ area.

The tree lined main street of Bright is about as pretty as a town gets.
The alpine backdrop of the last 3 kilometres of Falls Creek is simply breathtaking
Though Bright is a far removed location, the menu options are simply 5 star
The climbing is fantastic but the descents are off the charts!
ARRIVAL
Your tour begins with arrival into Melbourne Tullamarine Airport for the transfer to our accommodation on the main street of Bright. We get settled in, our bikes put together in time for welcome drinks on the deck where Kerry will deliver a brief of what's to come across the tour and then we'll transfer to dinner.
Locations
Our entire stay is in Bright. Each morning our rides begin from the house with a coffee stop somewhere on the way. We are usually home by lunchtime except for our Falls Creek ride where we stop for lunch in Mt Beauty. Riders can get into the support van at any time. Ride destinations and mountains summited are:

The rides depart each morning after breakfast with fully stocked support van. Your day bags will be on the bus seats, packed with anything dont want to carry in your jersey. We stop for coffee at some point and are usually back by lunchtime so you can enjoy a relaxed meal at one of the many cafes available in town or prepare something at home in the kitchen from your own supplies.
AVERAGE RIDE DISTANCE AND GAIN
Every day offers various ride options and the support van is always available to get into anytime. The daily itinerary looks like this:

- Mt Buffalo (D) 65k (G) 1,490m
- Falls Creek|Tawonga Gap (D) 122k (G) 3,121m
- Mt Hotham (D) 110k (G) 2,284m
- Option to swap in 100k Rosewhite loop for flatter ride.
NIGHTLY DINNERS AND LUNCHES
This is a very relaxed and highly flexible tour where you can take time out on your own after the rides or be as social as you please. Your welcome and farewell dinners are included in your package along with a pasta night on the day we do Falls Creek. The addditional evning is free for you to either dine in one of the many restaurant or pub options in town or prepare something at the house with groceries you've purchased from the local supermarket. Lunches and alcohol are not included in our package.
